Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against visiting Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
Shekau stated this in a video released barely 24-hours after President Buhari paid a visit to Maiduguri to condole with the state over the Auno attack.

He said the terrorist sect would attack Buhari if he visits Borno again.

“Buhari came to Maiduguri pretending to be a good man. He shouldn’t try it again,” Shekau said in Hausa.

Chibok girls release
The Boko Haram leader also gave a condition for the remaining Chibok schoolgirls.

Despite calls for their release, over 100 of the 276 girls abducted from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno state, in 2014, have remained in Boko Haram custody since the incident.

In a video, Shekau said the schoolgirls would be set free if the federal government releases its members in detention.

This is even as the sect launched an attack hours after Buhari paid a condolence visit to the state on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.

Buhari needs prayers, Nigerian leaders have failed – Ortom reacts as Boko Haram kills CAN Chairman.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has reacted to the killing of Lawan Andimi, Chairman of Adamawa State chapter of the Christain Association of Nigeria, CAN, by Boko Haram insurgents.

Ortom lamented that the killing of Andimi was an indication that the present crop of leaders in Nigeria have failed the country in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The Governor, who spoke when he hosted the state leadership of CAN in Makurdi, during a congratulatory visit over his victory at the Supreme Court, also urged the people to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Ortom: “My heart bleeds, it is an unfortunate thing that we have gotten where we are today in our country.

“I call on security agencies to arrest the situation because no one is safe. Today it is the CAN Chairman, tomorrow it can be another person. Even the security agencies themselves are not safe as they are also being kidnapped by Boko Haram. Even the citizens are being kidnapped.

“I call on the Christian family to continue to pray for Mr. President and for all other leaders in the country including the security agencies. God has the powers to grant wisdom, knowledge and understanding to leaders to be able to do the right things at the right place and at the right time so that peace will reign.

“Let God help us who are the leaders because today I must say that we have failed the people of Nigeria. I am part of it, I am not exempting myself. We have failed them, it is a collective failure.

“We have failed this country as leaders. But I pray that God will help us to see the pains that our people are going through. Let God help us. So for everyone with responsibility, even if you manipulate the people you should know that you cannot manipulation God.

“The day of reckoning and judgement is coming when you will stand before God to explain or give an account of what you have done.

“So I urge everyone in this country, in any position of responsibility you find yourself please discharge it with the fear of God. I enjoin all leaders including myself, let us work and discharge our responsibilities with the fear of God, give good leadership.

“The Bible says the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. If we fear God, wisdom will come and things will work and everybody will be happy and we the leaders will be happy too.

“I must confess that I am not a happy man, as a Nigerian I am not a happy man with what we see happening in our country.

“Not just in Benue state but all over the country in several states, even in Kastina state I feel sad seeing people running here and there for fear of bandits attacking them. Nobody is now sleeping with his two eyes closed, may God help us.”

Here’s why Buhari changed the name of the Ministry of Communications

President Muhammadu Buhari has changed the name of the Communications Ministry (Presidency)

The Ministry of Communications has a new name and there’s some science behind it all, believe it or not.

President Muhammadu Buhari has renamed the Ministry of Communications at the behest of new Minister, Isa Ali Pantami.

The Ministry of Communications will now be known as the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

In a statement signed by a Deputy Director in the Ministry, Mrs Philomena Oshodin, the federal government said: “The ministry which supervises the ICT Sector has been renamed The Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy to further expand its mandate to capture the goals of digitalisation of the Nigerian economy in line with the Economic Growth and Recovery Plan (EGRP), one of the key agenda of the present administration

Pantami is minister of communications (Daily Trust)

According to the minister, the old name had become limiting and obsolete and did not reflect the trends as emphasized by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

Pantami said: “ICT contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) stood at 13.85 percent in the second quarter of 2019. The change of nomenclature will propel the ministry to reposition its strategic objectives as laid out in the priority areas of this administration while accelerating growth and social inclusion.”

The minister “cited examples of global and African economies like Scotland, Thailand, Tunisia, Benin Republic and Burkina Faso among others, who have adopted deliberate strategies and created Ministries of Digital Economy in line with global best practice, and especially the European Union which has a commissioner for Digital Economy.”
